This Privacy Policy explains what personal data the mobile game Gammon Café (the "Game") collects, why, who it is shared with and the choices you have. It covers the Game on iOS and Android. Our website has its own privacy policy.
Who we are
Gammon Café is made and published by Cregsta ("Cregsta", "we", "us"). We are the data controller for the personal data described here.
- Email: contact@cregsta.com
In short
- You can play without giving us your name, email address or phone number.
- Ads are served by Google AdMob: optional rewarded videos, and occasionally a full-screen ad between games. Where the law requires it, the Game asks for your consent first, and you can change your choice later in Settings.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- You can delete your account inside the Game at any time.
Data we collect
Your game account
The first time you open Gammon Café, the app creates a random identifier (a UUID). It is not your device's hardware or advertising ID. It is stored on your device and sent to our game server, which uses it to create your guest account and give the app a login session. If you uninstall the app without linking your account, this identifier is lost and so is access to the account.
Sign in with Apple / Google (optional)
You can link your account to Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In in Settings › Account, so that you can restore it on another device. When you do, Apple or Google sends our server a signed token that identifies your account with them, and we store that account identifier next to your game account. The Game does not request your name or email address from Apple or Google. Depending on your settings, a token from Google may include your email address; we don't use it for anything.
Your profile
We store the player name you choose, your painted portrait, your country flag (set from your device's region; you can change it) and your language. These are visible to other players wherever the Game shows players: at the table, in rankings, chat, cafés, friends lists and your profile.
Your profile photo (optional)
You can choose a picture from your photo library to show instead of the painted portrait. The Game asks for access to your photos only when you choose to do this, and only the single picture you pick is uploaded, resized and stored on our servers. Every photo is checked by our moderators before other players can see it; you see your own at once. You can remove it at any time, and a rejected or removed photo is deleted from our servers.
Game data
We store your coins and gems, level and experience, the games you played and their results (including the dice rolls and moves, so that every game can be checked as fair and replayed for analysis), your ratings and league, rankings, missions, season pass, chests, daily bonuses, cosmetics, VIP status, café regulars tier, your café (club) membership, friends, gifts you sent and received, tournament entries, and the notices in your inbox. This is the game itself: the server keeps it so that your progress is safe, results are fair and other players can compete with you.
Chat and messages
Gammon Café has public chat rooms, a chat for each café, direct messages between friends, a short line you can send at the table and an optional public announcement. Messages are stored on our servers so the people in the room or conversation can read the recent history, together with your player name, portrait, level and flag. Writing in the public rooms unlocks at level 3. Before you first write anything other players can read, the Game asks you to accept the Community Rules.
Obvious profanity is masked automatically. You can report a player or a message (the report and a copy of the message go to our moderators) or block a player, which hides their messages and invitations. Moderators can remove messages and mute or ban players. Please don't share personal information such as your real name, phone number or address in chat.
Purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details. To deliver what you bought we use RevenueCat, which receives from the store the purchase receipt (product, price, currency, date, store transaction id) linked to your game account id. We keep a record of each purchase and what it gave, so purchases can be restored and refunds handled. If a store refunds a purchase, we take back what it gave.
Ads
Ads are served by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier (if you allow it), IP address, device and app information and how you interact with ads. In the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland and US states with privacy laws, the Game shows Google's consent form before any ad, and Settings › Account › Ad privacy choices lets you change your decision. On iOS the Game does not ask to track you across apps; ads may then be less personalised. VIP members and new players do not see the full-screen ads. See Google's privacy policy.
Gameplay statistics
Our server records events about how the Game is used (for example a game started or finished, a level reached, a purchase, an ad watched), linked to your game account id, to balance the Game and fix problems. These are processed by our own systems, not sold or shared with advertisers.
Technical data
Our servers receive your IP address and basic device information (operating system and app version) when the app connects. We use them to run the service, prevent abuse and cheating, and keep the Game secure.
Feedback and support
If you write to us in the Game or by email, we keep your message, our answer and your game account id so we can help you.
What we don't collect
Gammon Café does not ask for your contacts, camera, microphone or precise location, and it does not read other apps' data. It only accesses your photo library when you choose a profile photo.
Why we use your data (legal bases)
- To provide the Game you asked for (contract): your account, game data, chat, purchases, multiplayer.
- Legitimate interests: security, fair play, preventing abuse and fraud, moderation, improving and balancing the Game.
- Consent: personalised ads where the law requires it. You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings.
- Legal obligations: keeping purchase records as tax law requires.
Who we share data with
| Recipient | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Apple and Google | App stores, payments, Sign in with Apple / Google Sign-In |
| RevenueCat | Purchase validation and restore |
| Google AdMob | Ads (see above) |
| Our hosting provider | Servers that run the Game, located in the United States |
| Other players | What the Game shows publicly: your name, portrait or approved photo, flag, level, rankings, café, chat messages |
We share data with authorities only when the law requires it. We do not sell personal data.
International transfers
Our servers and some of our providers are located outside your country, including in the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep data
We keep your account and game data while your account exists, until you delete it. Chat messages are kept so the room's history can be read, and are deleted with your account; reports and moderation records are kept as long as needed to keep the Game safe. Purchase records are kept as long as tax law requires, even after your account is deleted.
Deleting your account
In the Game go to Settings (the gear icon) › Account › Delete account, and confirm twice. Your café ownership passes to another member (a café with no members left is closed), your ranking entries are removed, and your game account is deleted with everything stored in it: profile, photo, game data, friends, messages and inbox. This cannot be undone, and purchases cannot be restored to a new account. A subscription is not cancelled by deleting your account; cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings. You can also ask us to delete your account by email from the Settings › Help page, quoting your Player ID.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. Write to contact@cregsta.com with your Player ID (Settings › Account). You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Gammon Café is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) and contains in-game purchases and simulated gambling elements (coins staked on games, with no real-money prizes). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the date at the top and, if the changes are significant, tell you in the Game.
